Esther Perbandt in Bangladesh

Together with the BMZ, the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Entwicklung, Esther Perbandt spend 5 days in Bangladesh to film a documentary about the textile industry in this country. Esther Perbandt met victims of the Rana Plaza accident in April 2014, interviewed factory owners and workers, talked to the fascinating trade union woman Nazmer Akhter and visited a female factory worker at her tiny home. Especially the last visit (see 2nd video) was very emotional and a situation which Esther Perbandt will never forget.

What Esther Perbandt experienced and the conclusion that she drew was that in the end it is not a solution to not buy goods made in Bangladesh anymore, because it would just shift the problem to another developing country. More important it is to think wisely how you buy and that you have some information on the production chain.
